My mom and I were out in the middle of nowhere, and there was a park that was largly a parking lot. So she was parked waiting for a call and said "switch seats with me".

Driving a 06 Pilot is a lot different then a John Deere. I didn't realize those Honda V6's have such good throttle response. The first few accelerations and breaks were jerky, but once I got the feel for the car I got a lot more comfortable. (went from 5 to 10mph!) The driving wasn't hard, but I want to definitely drive in a parking lot a few more times before actually driving on the road.

Congrats! soon enough, you'll be ripping through the gears of your own car, doing launches on empty country roads, double clutching as you're upshifting, and left foot breaking, so you can hit that apex at just the right speed and angle!

Awesome! I remember my first time driving I simply could not modulate the throttle or brakes smoothly.

Same story when first driving a FoST.

Yep, they're sensitive and the VTec sounds great. They're also pretty good at handling and very verbal when you reach the limits. Oh, and they're limited at 109 mph.

that's right, I will be learning stick because I want to and likely my first car will be stick (My uncles 06 Accord V6 sedan 6MT) so I will truly learn the limits of a Honda Accord

I'll have that same problem likely on everything I drive initially because of the differences, though my first car will likely have the same engine (Accord V6 6MT) so it will be more steering differences

I will have to see if it can go 109MPH..

I did it in a safe and semi-legal manner, so I can't recommend you do it. It cruises great at 100, but at around 105 it downshifts and waste to much gas. It sucks when your paying about $9 a gallon.

Well there is a drag strip nearby, so at some point I will take it for the hell of it, I would never do that on a public roadway. (unless it's the autobahn)

hondas, like most Japanese cars, have horrible pedal modulation. They are basically on/off switches. I wouldn't blame all the jerkyness as being your fault.

this is amazingly nostalgic for me!

I first learned to drive in my moms 07 Pilot in the empty library parking lot on a Sunday. First time I was so nervous. I drove 5mph around a turn, and stopped. Yes, it moves much quicker than you think! Its a really good engine!

Lol. Double clutching. Yeah, if his first car is a 65 'Stang.

Anyway, those early drives are pretty memorable.

I sent mine to Europe and the autobahn in a Pilot is fun. But for even more fun try Italy, that never stopped being a steering wheel death grip the whole time I was there. My pilots been everywhere and never lets me down, except in one race against an f430...

Man! If your first car is an Accord V6 6mt cling on to it all your life. They are quite rare and undeniably cool! Also, good luck with all the driving, I started at 13 years old in my neighborhood with probably the worst vehicle. A Ford Expedition EL. 14 Years old was my first drive out on the road and trust me, the sensation is WONDERFULL.

Thanks, and that's the whole reason I want the Accord, rare, sleeper, and likely (relatively) cheap to insure. And I know even though it has 200k miles, they are highway miles and I trust the mechanic who serviced it. I can get it cheap because my uncle isn't hurting for money and that car is worthless to the general public (high miles and a stick). That car looks cleaner than the Pilot. I don't think my mom realizes how fast the Accords are :)

Try and convince your mother to get it for you! I will tell you it wont be a bad choice.

I don't have to do much convincing! She already has said "work on Peter, that would be a good car for you" The harder thing will be convincing him to sell the car

I remember the first time I drove. It was in a parking lot at Cherry Creek HS, which is a snooty (for a public school) high school in Colorado, in my mom's A6. I wasn't the only one; several other people's parents had the same idea, so there was actually traffic. Just wait for your first time driving on the highway. Fun stuff!

The first time I properly drove was in the family's Freelander when I was 9 or so. I moved it in the school carpark. My friends were genuinely freaked out - the sense of power that I felt for the rest of the day was immense.
